Conversations actually had lately about voting

Presented totally without commentary or editorial.

Them: I’d like to vote for Florence Shapiro, because she’s a teacher.
Me: Well, she’s been in the legislature for 20 years.
Them: But she’s a teacher.
Me: Has she ever actually done anything for teachers?
Them: Well, no.

Them: Barack Obama is just a puppet. Saying the words that’s he’s told to say.
Me: A puppet? Who’s pulling the strings.
Them: I dunno, some old man behind the scenes.
Me: Like John McCain?
Them: ….

Them: Barack Obama isn’t going to be able to do any of this stuff he’s saying he can do.
Me: And John McCain can?
Them: No.
Me: Then what does it matter?
Them: But Barack Obama scares me.
Me: Because he’s black, or because he might actually be able to do some of this stuff he says he’ll do?
Them: …..

Barack Obama Prime Time commercial: I’ll offset each of these programs with an equivalent cut in other programs (paraphrased, I don’t want to review the whole commercial to find the exact words)
John McCain commercial immediately following: How is he going to pay for all these things he wants to do? (Oh, wait, they must not have seen the ad before they made theirs)

Them: The economy is not Bush’s fault, the President does not have that much power.
Me: And yet you are scared that Barack Obama can turn us into a socialist state in 100 days?
Them: ….

Me: Can you explain to me why you think that Barack Obama will try to overturn the 2nd Amendment, and that is a TERRIBLE thing, and yet George W. Bush (choose your adjective: ignored, trampled or crapped on) the 4th, and that’s no big deal. (For everyone’s information, I’m pro gun rights)
Them: ….

Them: There is very little of the last 8 yrs I would pin on Bush…except when he has given in to stupid democratic things, like, say…the bailout.
George Bush: America’s economy is facing unprecedented challenges. We’re responding with unprecedented measures… We must act now.
Me: ….

Disclaimer: I’ve had several similar conversations lately. If you think I misquoted you, I’m likely quoting someone else. I did not materially change the meaning of the words anyone said to me.

No more Twitter

Due to the amount of confusion it’s been causing, I’m no longer going to post my Twitter feed to this site.

If you are interested in following my Twitter feed, go to twitter.com, sign up, and follow “ender3″

I’ll only post here when I have something longer to say.

Face it, this site has been neglected for a long time, and I’m working on a different project at the moment.

Twitter Updates for 2008-10-13

  • Cool. I only need 14.5 more days just like this one for my investments to get back to where they were. #
  • Correction, now I only need 9.4 days exactly like today to make up my losses. That’s not too much to ask, is it? #

Twitter Updates for 2008-10-10

  • I don’t give a shit about Texas or OU. A scoreless game where everyone got injured (not seriously, of course) would be a dream scenario. #

Twitter Updates for 2008-10-08

  • I’m late to twitter, but I’m not impressed with either one of them tonight. #
  • I think either one of them would have done better with more “I will” and far less “he won’t” The bickering is childish and tiring. #
  • Both candidates did better on foreign policy questions than they did on the economy and healthcare. #
  • Because the way bills in Congress get smothered in crap, accusing a Senator of voting against XXXX 43 times is a meaningless statistic. #
  • He had more time to think about it, but McCain *almost* answered the last question. They both ended up giving parts of their stump speech. #
  • Did anyone else notice an apparent refused handshake from Obama post debate? #
  • NBC reports several inaccuracies and exaggerations, but no real whoppers in tonight’s debate. #
  • BTW, you cannot fault Obama for lack of experience AND somehow imply he shares blame for an economic crisis decades in the making. #

Twitter Updates for 2008-10-02
